Finding a good teacher isn't the hard part. Making sure it's the right one, and that the work is actually getting somewhere, is what we're here for.

What we offer

One-to-one teaching, across every core subject.

GCSE and iGCSE for Years 9 to 11, at home or online, overseen by the founders throughout.

— The lead-in

GCSE Foundation

For Year 9, before the GCSE years begin. We close the gaps, build steadier study habits, and get the groundwork in place while there's still time.

Year 9 only
— The core programme

GCSE & iGCSE

Specialist teachers for Maths, English and the three Sciences, plus the rest of the curriculum. They know the exam boards, we keep track of the mocks, and confidence comes back where it has slipped.

Year 10 – Year 11
— Core skills

AI Literacy

Understanding how AI works, how to use it responsibly, and how to apply it effectively in academic work. A skill that will matter as much as any subject on their CV.

How the House works

Four things we promise every family.

There are good directories in this market, and they'll find you a tutor. We manage the teacher, the relationship, and the outcome — which is a different thing entirely.

We find the right teacher

We pick one teacher for your child and tell you why, in writing. No pile of CVs to sift through yourself.

You get — a written introduction, and the reason behind it.

We handle everything

Scheduling, billing, materials, messages — we deal with all of it, so it never lands on your plate.

You get — one point of contact, one invoice, one calendar.

We keep you in the loop

You'll hear from us before you have to ask — a straight answer on how your child is doing and what's next.

You get — same-day notes after lessons, and a monthly call.

We stand behind the match

If a teacher isn't the right fit, we sort out a replacement quickly — and we cover the cost.

You get — a new teacher within a week, at no extra charge.
The teachers

Vetted before they ever meet your child.

No one joins our roster until they've cleared every step.

How we match

The right teacher, chosen by method.

We don't match on subject and availability alone. We build a learning profile of your child — how they focus, revise, handle difficulty and exam pressure — and apply the same evidence-based framework to every family, then pair them with the teacher whose documented strengths fit. It's a decision we can explain to you in writing.

The founders

Run by two founders.

Two founders who came through the British education system themselves — with backgrounds in medicine and law — and who care deeply about teaching done properly.

Nayyab

Nayyab

Co-founder

Nayyab studied medicine in the UK and practises as a family medicine doctor in Dubai. She brings the same instincts medicine demands to Hawthorne House: listening closely, knowing when something needs to change, and leading every family relationship from the first conversation onward. She makes a point of understanding each child before anything else, and gives parents one person who knows their child's programme and is always easy to reach.

Bilal

Bilal

Co-founder

Bilal has a legal background, having studied law in the UK, and has built a career at the intersection of law and emerging technology. Currently serving as AI and Legal Technology Lead at Thomson Reuters MENA, Bilal brings the same rigour and attention to detail to Hawthorne House — overseeing the teacher roster, maintaining the standards every family is promised, and making sure every family feels genuinely looked after.

Pricing

Tailored to your child.

We'll discuss pricing at your first consultation. It's shaped around your child's subjects, year group and the level of support, then set out plainly in a written proposal afterwards.

How a family joins

Three steps, at your pace.

1

A conversation

A free consultation with one of the founders — by phone or in person.

2

A proposal

A few days later, a written plan with the teacher we'd recommend.

3

We begin

Lessons start, at home or online. You get notes from the very first one.

Questions

Your questions, answered.

After a free consultation, we propose one teacher chosen specifically for your child — in writing. Lessons run at home or online, and we stay close throughout: a same-day summary after every lesson, a monthly call with one of the founders, and an in-person review each term. You deal with us, not a roster of strangers.
Every teacher is British-trained and clears the same checks before they ever meet your child: qualifications verified, an interview with a founder, references taken up, a signed agreement with the House, and an MoHRE Private Teacher Permit. If they haven't cleared every stage, they're not on our roster.
Both. Lessons can take place in your home or online — whichever suits your family — and the experience and the price are the same either way.
GCSE and iGCSE for Years 10 and 11, with a Foundation programme for Year 9. We cover Maths, English and the Sciences alongside the wider curriculum, across the major British exam boards — Cambridge, Edexcel, AQA and OCR. We also offer AI Literacy as a core modern skill.
We don't publish a rate card, because no two families need the same thing. Pricing is shaped around your child's subjects, year group and the level of support, then set out plainly in a written proposal after your free consultation.
We stand behind every match. If the chemistry is wrong or your child's needs change, we'll introduce a replacement within seven days, at our cost, with continuity notes already in hand — so the work doesn't skip a beat.
You'll never have to chase us. A written summary lands after every lesson, a founder reviews the work each week, you receive a monthly progress call, and we sit down with you in person at the end of each term to review what's happened and plan ahead.
